Josh and I have been having a lovely week with Kyle and Mel! We have just been to Osaka to Umeda Sky Building, Namba and Yaki Niku. Then to Kyoto to the Golden Temple and Imperial Palace and also to Nara where we (not me!) fed the deer and fed the turtles… I want a turtle!!! We also had great fun at Karaoke but hopefully all videos of me singing will be destroyed!

I’d have to say that this has been these most amazing birthday!!! The birthday spoilage started a week ago when mum and dad sent me a sizzix! It is an amazing cutting and embossing machine, and I have big plans for it! Then, on Wednesday night after work Josh gave me the most wonderful and thoughtful present of all my favourite things. I love blueberries so he found me blueberry wine, I love tea so he found a cute happy birthday tea! Do read the “engrish” 🙂 he also got me two wonderful craft books to inspire me as I work towards my craft dreams 🙂 and he gave it all to me in the cutest bag!
After a long night of almost no sleep we arrived at Disney Sea! We waited for the park to open, it was very exciting! People race in to get fast pass tickets, but being a Thursday the racing wasn’t overly necessary!
At the moment Disney is celebrating Easter and Spring, so there were lots of beautiful floral displays and Easter egg shaped characters.
As you walk through the gates to Disney Sea you are greeted by a Mediterranean harbour.
Which also includes a pirate ship, castle and volcano of course!
From there we moved on to Atlantis!
Then on to the home of King Neptune to hang out with Ariel under the sea.

My lovely swap partner Ysmeine received the package I sent her on Friday, I can’t believe it got there so quick! This was the Fox and Owl swap on Craftster, my favourite online hangout.
Here’s what I made:
A needle felted fox, who needed a home of course! So I built him a terrarium to live in, inspired by one of my crafting hero’s, Knickertwist, you can find her amazing work, including tutorials for the tiny mushrooms and houses over at her blog Pixie Hill.
I also made an owl phone cover. Modified from a pattern by Nilmerg.
I also made some crochet owls. They are available as a free crochet pattern here
I’m looking forward to my next swap, Vintage Swap starting soon! And steadily working through my journal for a month swap 🙂

Just riding back home on the local train, it gives me plenty of time to blog 🙂 the rice paddies have been flooded this week. They look really beautiful!
Tuesday of Golden Week, Dani and I enjoyed epic fail day. We started our day with a trip to the Boston museum to see the Icons of Style exhibition… It was closed. So we moved on to our next activity, a visit to a puppy cafe. A puppy cafe is where you can go if you don’t own a pet (dogs and cats are very expensive in Japan!) to play with one for an hour and have a coffee. It took us a very long time to find the puppy cafe in Shin-Sakae and when we finally did it was byo puppy! It was a grooming cafe 😦 so we decided to walk to the next suburb over to meet Josh for lunch, only a fifteen minute walk. Unless of course you are Caitlan and Dani, in which case you get lost and it takes an hour. But we were determined to spend time with a cute little pet, so when we finally met Josh we went in search of a kitten cafe and after an hour we found it:
But of course it was closed!!!! So feeling very disheartened we jumped on a train and headed for Osu Kanon and finally some success! We might not have found any pets, but we got to take these lovelies home:
Wednesday we had a quiet day, crafting and studying 🙂 I can’t wait to post photos of what I made but it’s for the fox and owl swap, so no photos until my partner receives 🙂 it’s been such a super fun swap though 🙂
On Thursday we went to Osaka to visit Mayuko. She is moving to Germany next month to start her new job as a flight attendant with Lufthansa. She is going to be amazing!
I tried sushi for the first time, there were lots of seafood free options 🙂

Quite possibly the most aptly named holiday, Golden week so far has lived up to our expectations! We started Sunday by playing put put at the park, and seeing a man feeding the birds, though not pigeons like you usually see!
Then we went to the Belgian Beer Festival! We enjoyed some delicious beers and food!
A robot made of chewing gum! Cara and Valerie were impressed 😉
And some delicious cheese with raisin lollies.
After the festival Cara and I had some lunch, pizza, yum! And went shopping at Daiso, the ¥100 shop. Then we met up with Josh for a ride on the ferris wheel in Sakae.
That night Josh and I enjoyed dinner at Japan’s #1 Okonomiyaki restaurant. It is delicious!!! I also had my favourite Japanese dish, Omu Soba. The restaurant is owned by the most wonderful, lovely couple who have made us feel so at home in Japan!
After dinner it was back home to soak in our weird Japanese style bath tub, it looks like an oversized laundry sink! What bath would be complete though without a bath bomb?
And as it dissolved look what appeared!
A teddy bear!!!
Today we visited a shrine at Jingu Nishi, called Atsuta shrine.
The oldest tree at the shrine:
If you’ve ever wondered what a thousand paper cranes looks like:
An amazingly rusty building we saw
And a token for studies, let’s hope I can actually do the course I want now!
